Defender Signs
Jamie Hood
Gresley Rovers manager Gary Norton has beaten off interest from Blue Square North side Nuneaton Borough and UniBond Premier Division outfit Ilkeston Town to capture the signature of 23-year-old centre-back Jamie Hood.
Hood, who played the first 58 minutes of the Hednesford Town game in midweek, has agreed a one-year contract following lengthy discussions with Norton after the game. The defender was signed by Norton in December 2003 and played 65 games, scoring three goals, before leaving at the end of the following season.
Hood had spent most of pre-season with Borough, but they delayed making him an offer, allowing Norton to swoop.
Norton said: "I am delighted to say that Jamie agreed to sign a one-year deal after the friendly on Tuesday night and he is now our player.
"Without a doubt he will be a big asset and I think he has matured in the time he has been away from the club. His temperament was a concern, but he has improved in that department and is two years older and wiser.
"I want players here who have that passionate aggression, but people who can control that, and I am delighted we now have Jamie on board."
