Keeper blow
Mark Sheils may need an operation to cure his troublesome knee injury that he picked up at the end of last season
During the close season Sheils received a steroid injection from the Derby County surgeon after the injury failed to respond to treatment from a physio. However, Mark broke down again last week during training and now looks certain to face surgery.
Manager John McGinlay said: " The lad is going back to Derby County and they are to give him a MRI scan to find out the cause of the problem but it looks like he will need an operation. That will leave us short and I might have to bring in a keeper on loan as cover for James Lindley.
" We have a young keeper Ian Roberts who has only just come up to the reserves from the youth team and I think throwing him in to the first team will be a bit too much for him at this stage."
Asked about Wednesday's match against Hednesford he said, "I was delighted with the performance. There were no points at stake but we took an awful lot out of the game in terms of fitness and sharpness.
"We now have competition for places and we have players who can come off the bench and influence games. It may be difficult to keep everyone happy but if the team picked itself I would be worried.
