Players sign
Pre-season is only just underway and manager Gary Norton and assistant Mick Curry have been working overtime in tying up members of the squad that last season took the club to the brink of promotion to the Premier Division via the play offs.
With Matt Millns, Paul Edwards and new addition Colin Hoyle already signed up for the new campaign the Moat boss has retained several of last seasons squad on new deals for the coming season. Nick Carter, Gary White, Micky Lyons, Carl Slater, Matt Moran, David Holmes, Andy Simpson Tony Hemmings and Tom Betteridge have all put pen to paper for the club during the last few days.Commenting on the opening week of pre-season Norton said: "It's been a good week in terms of retaining many of the key members of last season's squad. We weren't a million miles away last time round so I don't feel like the squad needs a major overhaul. We are keen to retain the majority of players from last season so we can benefit from the understanding and continuity that it will bring. Of course we are looking to add new players here and there but in the main next seasons squad will be based on the foundations built last season. Of course we await the outcome of Aaron's situation before we make plans in too much more detail but we have a couple other options to consider in that respect if and when they are needed. We do have a few of the lads who haven't yet reported back as they are still away on holiday but I plan to sit down with those concerned on their return to training."
