25-year-old midfielder Nick Ghislanzoni last night agreed terms to join the club and becomes the fifth new face in a week at the Moat Ground following on from the signings of David Holmes, Goalkeeper Gavin Saxby as well as Assistant Manager Mick Curry and Coach Raffaele Long. Ghislanzoni joins from Central Midlands side Sandiacre Town but spent much of last season at Shepshed Dynamo and indeed played in both league games against the Moatmen.

On the acquisition of 6' 3" Ghislanzoni Norton said: "Nick was one of the players we identified last season as one of our main targets to bring in over the summer. He is a highly rated midfielder with a great physical presence and desire to win and in my opinion is just the type of player we have been missing. I watched him several times last season and each time he impressed me, particularly in his games for Shepshed against us. He is a tough and combative midfield player with a winning mentality and the sort of player who would tackle a brick wall or his granny if he had to. The added bonus with Nick is that he also has the ability to get the ball down and play and has a proven record of chipping in with his fair share of goals."

He added: "I was very impressed during our meeting not only with what he had to say but with his attitude towards the game. I was delighted when we agreed terms for him to come to the Moat Ground so quickly. He is very much looking forward to it and I'm convinced he will prove to be a key acquisition to the squad."

On joining Gresley, Ghislanzoni said: "I'm really happy to be joining Gresley Rovers. I was considering what I was going to do next season when I received a call from Gary Norton asking if we could meet to discuss a potential move to Gresley. They have always been a club I have admired and It didn't take me long to make up my mind to join. I'm really looking forward to the challenge next season and can't wait for it to begin."

Commenting on the weeks events Norton said: "It has been a hectic and busy week but things are certainly taking shape for next season. Losing Jamie Barrett to Hednesford was obviously a blow but that apart it's been quite a productive week for us. We are still in various stages of talks with other players and I expect to have further news in the next few days on one or two of our targets. Its fair to say we have been ambitious in some of our discussions to bring certain players here but my motto is if you don't try you don't get!"
