Changes at the Moat Ground
Alan Titterton becomes Chief Scout

Alan Titterton becomes Chief Scout

Gresley Rovers have announced that there will be a reorganisation of its backroom team at the Moat Ground ahead of next season.
Coach Steve Hinks has left the club and will assume an equivalent role at Southern League Western Division side Sutton Coldfield Town, whilst Assistant Manager Alan Titterton will remain at the Moat Ground becoming Chief Scout.

Manager Gary Norton had hinted at the end of last season that there would be changes to his support team and commented: "The Chairman and I wanted to make certain changes to the backroom team in order to improve and strengthen certain aspects at the Club. In particular we had concerns with our scouting and with the recruitment of players - something that needed developing at all levels within the Club.

Within any organisation it is important that you deploy your resources to the best of its ability, where it can make a significant contribution and feel valued in doing so.

Alan has gladly accepted the role and is looking forward to a responsibility that has in the past seen him uncover some great players.

With this role within the management team, Alan will be responsible for undertaking a review of our scouting and player recruitment at the club, which although will be primarily for the first team, will also involve the other sides.

He is an excellent judge of a player, knowing exactly the sort of individual that we need and the type that would get on well at the Club. He has demonstrated that talent over the years where he has a proven track record. Our turnover rate of players has been too high of late. This change of role for Alan will enable him to focus his strengths to develop a key area of the football club where we have been significantly lacking in recent seasons."

On Steve Hinks' departure from the Moat Ground Norton said: "We were in the process of reviewing Steve's role at the Club and had in fact discussed a few ideas towards the end of last season. Before we had chance to finalise things and take those idea's further he advised us that he'd had a proposal from Sutton Coldfield Town and had decided to take up the offer of a fresh challenge nearer to his home of Cannock."

Norton added: "Obviously it's disappointing to lose someone like Steve from the club and I would like to offer him my sincere thanks for his support and contribution over the last two seasons. We wish him well in his new challenge at Sutton."

Gresley Rovers hope to make an announcement with regard to the appointment of a new Coach/ Assistant Manager in the near future.
