Striker to make return?
Chris White

Chris White

Chris White has been called into the first team squad for tomorrow's home game against Colwyn Bay.
He has been sidelined by injury for almost 3 years and last Saturday was his first competitive game when he played 25 minutes for the reserves.

His nightmare began when he aggravated an ankle injury during a home match against Redditch United in April 2002 and had to be substituted. That season he had knocked in 8 cup and league goals. There then followed knee injuries that kept him out of football.

At the beginning of this season he had surgery to remove a cyst and repair a tiny tear in what was hoped would mark an end to his long injury nightmare.

Chris had been attending pre season training but feeling some slight discomfort, the Club and player wanted to investigate the problem as quickly as possible. A scan was arranged and a cyst was identified as the cause of his problems so Chris was booked into surgery for the minor operation.

His rehabilitation has taken the best past of this season but now manager Gary Norton thinks it's time to give him a chance.

Norton said: "Chris has only played 25 minutes of reserve team football, but he was on fire at training last night. I'm still a little reticent but I'd rather have someone on the bench who is likely to score goals.

"He is raring to go and in training his touch has been good, he has held the ball up and his movement is there, bit I'm still very nervous. In the medium to long term we will see how he goes in the next three or four weeks. I'm praying he can have a big impact this season as we desperately need another goal scoring option."
