Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay is this week hoping to tie up deals for the majority of players who he wants to bring to the club for the start of next season.
The Moat boss today revealed he is looking to sign around half-a-dozen players and he is not prepared to be "messed around" by his targets as he builds for his first full season in charge at Rovers.

High on his shopping list are strikers, especially after last year's leading scorer Simon Tucker agreed to a move to Leek Town, but McGinlay is looking to strengthen his squad in all areas.

Said the Moat boss this morning (Mon): "It looks like being a hectic week, but that's how I want it to be. I will be down there (at the club) the first part of this week and I am hoping to tie up most of the players who I want to bring in. I am also hoping to speak to the players already at the club but that will not affect who I go after."

McGinlay revealed he has already spoken to players about joining Gresley but warned he would not wait forever for them to give him an answer.

"Yes I have had talks with players already and I'd like to think we can get the ones we want in quickly. The players I have spoken to know the situation. If people hang on and mess us around in terms of giving us a decision they will be crossed off the list and we will move on to someone else."

The Moat boss admitted that Tucker's decision to leave the club had forced his hand in terms of having to look for another striker.

Said McGinlay: "I would like to bring in about six players in various positions. I was looking to bring in another striker anyway but now Simon has gone and we need to replace him, so I am looking for two strikers now. We made Simon a good offer but he obviously got a better one from somewhere else, although I do not see it as a step up for him. He had talks with Hinckley and if he had gone there then I could have understood it more, but we wish him well."
