Wilson in at the Moat Ground
Gresley Rovers have confirmed this evening that they have reached an agreement with Burton Albion and the player Laurie Wilson, to bring the midfielder to the Moat Ground for a month.
The capture completes a busy few days of activity at the Moat Ground following the recent loan arrivals of James Fox from Nuneaton Borough and David Holmes from Alfreton and the permanent signing of Marc Laws from Ilkeston. Norton said: "Midfield is an area where on paper we have already got a plethora of options. However with Andy Marlowe needing match fitness and Andy Simpson covering for Jamie Hood at the back we have Jamie Barrett and Ashley Dodd in there. Both of those are carrying knocks and have played a lot of football so far this term. Ideally they could both benefit from a rest and Laurie coming in for a month gives us that option. He's a great passer of the ball, has got great energy, gets forward well, and is quite creative so all in all it's a great signing for us."
He added: "The deal will hopefully benefit us and Burton because he's not started for them recently and could do with games. He's been training hard to keep up his match fitness and is really looking forward to joining us for the month.
"We've been really stretched recently with illness and injury and the work we have done this week gives us a bit of breathing space as well as some quality options to pick from.
"It had been hoped that the paperwork would have been completed by this evening to allow Laurie to be available for tomorrows match, but that wasn't to be. I'd like to thank Nigel (Clough) for his help in making this arrangement possible, and look forward to Laurie joining up with us for our next match."
