Matlock pre-match news
Gresley Manager Gary Norton gives Reserve and Youth team players the opportunity to impress tonight in the Derbyshire Cup Quarter Final against Premier Division Matlock Town.
Rovers currently have an injury crisis and the Moat boss isn't going to risk adding to that and is set to rest much of his weary squad for tonight's game.Said Norton: "It would be great to be able to put out our first choice 11 tonight in a bid to get to the semifinals but it simply isn't possible. We have to prioritise and that means I have to put the league first. We are in a great position but it is vital that we get some of these injuries and other knocks cleared up. I could ask players to play with knocks and not 100% fit like they did on Saturday but why risk it for a competition that is the lowest of our priorities. Tonight and Saturday are perfect opportunities to give people the time they need to get right and it also give the lads from the other sides at the club an opportunity to impress."
Gary White serves a one match suspension picked up for 5 yellow cards whilst Jamie Hood has a scan today on his injured knee. Rovers will also be missing Matt K Smith (hamstring), Andy Simpson (ankle), Matt Smith (groin). Also Justin Rowe failed a fitness test on Saturday and again won't be risked. Another blow is that John Branch who did very well at full back on Saturday is unavailable whilst loan signing James Fox and new signing Steve Taylor are ineligible due to not being signed for seven days. Jamie Barrett is also likely to be rested after reporting a slight calf strain after Saturday's game.
Into the squad come Reserve teamers James Pemberton, Andy Dunn, Danny Cox, Joe Miller, Sukhy Heer and Youth teamer Alex Bolt. Lewis Gadsby and Jak Ward from the youth team are on standby
