Rovers finally get their man!
Striker Aaron O'Connor has become Gresley Rovers' 4th new signing of the summer after finally putting pen to paper in a deal that has seen him make the move across Derbyshire from rivals Ilkeston Town.
The much sought after front man who can also operate wide right had been considering his future with the Robins and was also thinking through offers from two other clubs.Nottingham based O'Connor, 21, moved from Ilkeston to Scunthorpe United in 2002. He started 2003/4 with Nuneaton Borough before returning to rejoin the Robins. His arrival at the Moat Ground follows hot on the heels of other new signings Justin Rowe, Andy Simpson and Sean Gummer.
Manager Gary Norton commenting on his latest signing said "We watched Aaron a few times last year and he impressed enough for us to make him one of our top targets to bring in over the summer. We met for talks and made him an offer to come to Gresley. Rightly, he wanted time to think things through and see what other options he had, but it goes without saying that we are very happy that Aaron has agreed to sign for us. Aaron has tremendous pace, great feet and is a very exciting prospect for us. Attack wise he will give us a whole new dimension. Be it from up top or wide on the right, on his day he is very effective in either position".
Aaron will join up with the squad for the remainder of pre-season on July 22nd after a prearranged personal commitment.
