Boss at a loss

Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay could be gearing himself up for a summer clearout at the Moat Ground after claiming there were "not enough winners at the club" following yesterday's 1-0 defeat at Cinderford Town.
The Moatmen's season of inconsistency continued over the weekend, with yesterday's defeat following a thrilling 4-3 Dr Martens Western Division victory over Redditch United.

And McGinlay revealed he cannot wait for the season to end so that he can begin to prepare for Rovers' next campaign.

Said the Moat boss: "I've said several times before that I can't wait for the new season to start equally I can't wait for the current season to finish."

And McGinlay hinted that there could be some significant changes to personnel at the Moat Ground after taking a swipe at his players yesterday.

The Scot added: " You learn more about people when the chips are down. There are not enough winners at the club and we're too inconsistent. I've got a list of players who I want and we need to get things sorted out quickly because it's important we get off to a good start next season."

McGinlay was far from happy with the performance at Cinderford despite the fact Rovers are now mathematically safe from relegation.

The Moatmen were outfought and outplayed by a Cinderford side who look to be winning their fight for survival having spent much of the season in the bottom two.

"We entered the game on a high after winning at Redditch but we only played in little patches against Cinderford," said the Moat boss. "During the first 20 minutes of the second half we never played and when we did get the ball forward it kept coming straight back."
