Simon Van de-Brooke's Reserve team news
Simon Van de-Brooke
Hello Moat Fans, I trust that you are all well and had a lovely Easter and didn't eat too many chocolate eggs.
I pen these notes well in advance of this weekend due to Easter holidays etc. last night (7th April) saw the reserves travel to Shepshed for our away fixture with the men from "Butt Hole Lane".The weather had been pretty awful all day and the ground staff at Shepshed had done a great job to get to an hour before kick off with the pitch playable, then the heavens opened up and it rained it hailed it just about flooded, all the good work on the pitch had gone to waste, the game was called off.
This Saturday saw the visit of our Cup Final opposition Boldmere St Michaels, who are currently top of the league. This would have been a big test for the lads as we played them earlier in the season in what was a tight game until the last 30 minutes when they ran out handsome winners.
Boldmere have always been a bit of a bogie side for us ever since I've been at the club, in fact they've won all our meetings in the last 3 seasons, but all good things must come to an end, and I believe that we are a better equipped now than we have ever been so watch this space.
This coming Tuesday (13th April) we are away to Bedworth another tricky game but if we want to finish in the top 3 or 4 slots these are the games we need to be winning.
On the whole this season so far, my first in charge I have been pretty pleased with the way things have developed, myself Johnny and Dave have managed to pull a much changed team from last season together, achieve some great results and do it with one of the youngest sides the reserves has seen in a few years, this youth policy is one I am keen to develop further next year, with the introduction of more youngsters, youngsters though of the right calibre, youngsters that have the potential to be in the first team. In these times of silly money for players, where you've got to pay £250-£300 for a decent striker, its time to look at the youth in the local area and beyond and see what they have to offer, this I believe is where the future of this club lays.
Lets keep getting behind the Gaz and the lads and giving them your support, and lets live the dream together.
Come On Rovers
