Two in two out at the Moat Ground

Defender Leigh Everitt and striker Steve Lenagh have been released by Gresley Rovers.
The decision for Everitt to leave the club was a mutual one as he had indicated to manager Gary Norton that he would not be at the Moat Ground next season because he was thinking of dropping down a level for family and travelling reasons and decided to take up the offer to release him.

Leigh EverittNorton said: "Leigh has been very consistent this season and his experience has proved vital to us since he joined us.

Lenagh, signed in September, does not fit into Norton's plans for next season. "The fact we've released Steve will come as a shock to some people but we are preparing for next season, said Norton. "He is unlucky in a way because he gave us a physical presence, but one league goal in open play since October tells it's own story. I decided to release Lenagh with one eye on next season and the type of football we want to play. I'm looking to have two quick strikers who have got a bit of strength. I want to play football and have two potent goal scorers next season."

New signings Kris Nurse, Justin Rowe and Jonathan Daniels with Gary Norton and Mark EvansGresley Rovers have completed ahead of today’s match day deadline, the signing of Justin Rowe and Jonathan Daniels on loan from Telford.

Gresley have been tracking the progress of Justin Rowe a forward for most of the season, following Telfords agreement to let the player join the Moatmen on loan.

Justin has been a regular in the Telford squad and played in the recent FA Cup tie against Millwall.

Joining Justin at the Moat Ground is right sided winger Jonathan Daniels. Jonathan is very quick and direct and will add another dimension to the Gresley pattern of play.

Mick Jones the Telford manager rates both players very highly and is keen for them to get regular football.

Gary Norton, Gresley Rovers Manager stated that he was delighted to complete the signing of Justin and Jonathan and was quick to thank Mick Jones the Telford Manager for his support. “Mick had promised that he would try to help us out and he has come through for us – Telford have had a busy programme of matches which has prevented them joining us earlier, but I am hopeful that we will be able to keep them to the end of the season”.

The two Telford lads will join up with the two recent arrivals from Notts County, Kris Nurse, and David Kettle.

Chairman Mark Evans commenting on the developing relationship with Notts County and Telford, believed that such relationships were good for football, providing an opportunity for players at professional clubs to get regular football and providing semi pro clubs with valuable experience and exposure to the professional game, both on and off the field. “I very much appreciate the help and support from both Notts County and Telford – these are ‘win win’ solutions for all clubs concerned”
