Gresley Rovers are preparing for their first season as a Beazer Homes Premier Division club by giving the Moat Ground a £10,000 facelift.
Rovers were granted promotion after finishing runners-up in their debut season in the Beazer Midland Division last season but were required to complete a string of improvements to make the step up.The work is now nearing completion with Rovers having:
Completely enclosed their pitch
Provided covered standing arrears to accommodate 1,000 spectators on the Oxford Street side and opposite the main stand.
Installed emergency lighting throughout the ground
Built a fully equipped press box and communications centre
Rovers have also splashed out on further improvements to the playing surface and refurbished other parts of the stadium, with plans now going ahead for improvements on the Moat Ground social club.
Said commercial director Frank McArdle: “We have attracted twice as many corporate and individual sponsors for next season as we had for the last one and the refurbishments to the social club will include a VIP lounge area for entertaining these sponsors and other guests.”
Rover’ players are also benefiting from the club’s close-season endeavours with the team set to start the season in a new kit – identical to last season’s – provided by new manufacturers Sportswear of Woodville.
Sportswear will also be marketing Rovers merchandise six days a week from it’s base in High Street, Woodville.
The club programme has also been redesigned with printing company Rink Repro providing sponsorship.
