Moat Ground purchase a step nearer
Chairman Mark Evans has announced that a framework is now in place for the club to purchase the ground from their landlords.
He said: "I am pleased to say that a framework has been agreed with Mitchells & Butlers – our landlords – which will result in, subject to the club raising the required funds, Gresley Rovers acquiring the Moat Ground. "A price has been agreed and we have been negotiating hard over the last three weeks, but there is still work to be done."
There will be a meeting of club's directors the next week to formally agree to the purchase with discussions on how to raise the necessary funds needed to go ahead with the plan.
Evans added: "We have not discussed funding at the moment, but having said that, we have not entered into this without anticipating where funding would come from.
"We have not gone into the sweet shop knowing we have nothing in our pockets. Now the board will get together this week and look to collectively agree to the purchase."
The news of this purchase is bound to raise again the question of moving to a new ground but the club are making no comment on that matter.
