Boss's fixture fury

Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay has urged Dr Martens League chiefs to consider extending the season after being left with what he describes as a "ridiculous" fixture backlog.
As well as the Moatmen having to play six games in 12 days either side of Easter, their postponed game at Cinderford has been re-arranged for Sunday, April 29th - the day after they travel to Redditch. And if tomorrow's clash at Weston-super-Mare is called off - as looks increasingly likely - that could also be re-arranged for a Sunday.
Said the Moat boss: "The situation is ridiculous, especially as we found ourselves with a blank midweek this week. I would have thought the league might have to look at extending the season by a week but nothing has come out as yet. Having to play Redditch on the Saturday and Cinderford the next day means I will virtually have to pick two different teams. You have to take into account that the players may have made arrangements, but even if they haven't it is hard to play two games in two days, especially with all the travelling. But the situation could get even worse yet, with tomorrow's game already looking doubtful. We have already got to the stage where we are having to play on Sundays."
McGinlay, meanwhile, is hoping to make some headway regarding signing players on contract this weekend.
Said McGinlay: "With us planning to stay down there (Weston) over the weekend I thought it would be an opportunity to have a chat with the lads. I pretty much know who I want to sign on contracts, but I need to go round and see if they want to stay so I can start to lay the foundations."
