Due to personal reasons Jon Newsome has resigned as manager of Gresley Rovers Football Club.
Newsome spoke to Chairman Mark Evans yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) advising him of his intentions and confirmed the resignation later that evening.The matter was discussed during a routine meeting of the board who would like to convey their sincere appreciation to Jon and wish him all the very best for the future.
Mark Evans said today: “Jon’s decision to resign was for personal reasons and not for any financial reasons connected with Gresley or the involvement of any other club.
“I can confirm that reserve team manager Gary Norton will be appointed as caretaker manager with Alan Titterton giving support to both Gary and assistant reserve team boss Simon Van de Broucke in their respective management roles. The position of first team manager will be advertised shortly.
“I have spoken to all of the players and they all send Jon their very best wishes and have also pledged their support to Gresley Rovers.”
