If Rovers are to complete the remarkable feat of going from West Midlands Regional to Beazer Premier leagues in the space of a single season there can be no room for error in the clashes against Leicester United at the Moat Ground tomorrow and promotion rivals Barri at Worcester on Monday night.

But manager Steve Dolby was today confident his team were up to the task. “There’s no room for error so we’ve got to be confident,” said Dolby as he began the countdown for tomorrow’s game aiming to guide his side to a revenge win over Leicester after their 3-2 defeat at Blaby earlier this month.

“I’m confident we can beat Leicester. Obviously we’ve got to be aware of them because they beat us at their place, but the target is to win tomorrow and get at least a point at Barri.”

Dolby was pleased to see another promotion rival fall by the wayside last night, Rushden & Diamonds’ 2-2 draw at Stourbridge, he says, effectively removing them from the race.

“They can only get 85 points now and that’s not going to be enough. I said our target for promotion would be 87 points and we’re still on target for that, although Barri have come with a late rush and 87 may not now be enough, although they have got four games left and have got to win them all to squeeze us out.

“It’s now down to us, Nuneaton and Barri and we’ve just got to keep winning. Leicester is our main concern at the moment and we’ve got to concentrate on getting it right tomorrow with a view to Monday’s game which is going to be our cup final. It’s all ifs and buts but if we can win tomorrow and get a point at Barri we’ll then need three points from our last two games to go up.”

Although his team ultimately struggled to secure a win over King’s Lynn in midweek, Dolby saw much to encourage him, saying today: “I still believe that was our best performance for some weeks and if we can play like that again tomorrow I’ll be quite happy.”
