Rovers party night

Gresley Rovers were still waiting to find out today whether they will end the season with the Beazer Midland championship or runners-up trophy.
But whichever of the two Rovers finally end up winning will be presented at a special reception at the Moat Ground on Tuesday.Rovers could still win the title if Nuneaton Borough were to lose at Evesham today and Rovers were to win at Rushden & Diamonds.
If that fails to happen they will receive the runners-up trophy and medals on Tuesday.
Making the presentations will be Atherstone United secretary Keith Allen, a member of the Beazer Homes League management committee.
Musical entertainment and a buffet are also on the agenda for what is intended to be a celebration evening for players and supporters alike.
Rovers commercial director Frank McArdle said today: “It’s a pity we haven’t got a game because the presentations could then follow naturally after that. Instead we are giving fans the only opportunity they will get this season to see players receive their trophy – whichever one it turns out to be – and medals.
“It will also be an opportunity for everyone – including supporters – to get up with a microphone and have their say.”
