Taplin back in revenge mission

Striker Mike Taplin hits the comeback trail tomorrow as Gresley Rovers aim to avenge their biggest Beazer Midland Division defeat of the season.
Taplin, who has missed the last nine games with a knee injury, is included in a 14-man squad for the trip to Gloucester based Newport AFC.The former Burton Albion and Mickleover front-runner has been told by a specialist that he must play through the discomfort of the injury for it to clear up.
And with three players carrying injuries after Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Redditch, Taplin could be called into action tomorrow.
Skipper Richard Denby (hamstring) is Rovers’ biggest doubt although his chances of playing are rated “better than 50-50” by manager Steve Dolby.
Midfielder Robbie Briscoe looks set to shake off a groin strain, while full back Scott Elliott is hopeful of recovering from a similar injury.
Rovers will be looking to inflict Newport’s second consecutive home defeat after the Exiles went down 2-0 to Forest Green on Tuesday. The Welsh side were 5-3 winners at the Moat Ground in November.
