Gresley Rovers boss Steve Dolby has warned his team to adapt – or start dropping down the Beazer Midland table.
Dolby watched an injury time equaliser from striker Martin Devaney earn his side a point from a 4-4 draw at boggy Weston-super-Mare on Saturday – then pronounced himself “very disappointed”.

“Teams that win the league don’t five four goals away – but we’ve been doing it regularly. Heavy pitches are affecting us. We need to adapt instead of trying to play football when it’s impossible.

“Having said that, we’ve been having a bad run and things haven’t been going for us. Today we scored in the last minute to earn a point and that might just turn things around for us.”

Meanwhile, long-serving midfielder Neil Lovell has left Rovers to join Central Midlands Premier Division Sandiacre Town.

Lovell, 34, has found first team opportunities limited at the Moat Ground this season making just three appearances, all as substitute.

Dolby said: “His opportunities have been limited this season but overall his record for the club has been outstanding. I would like to go on record as thanking him for the service he has given us.”

Dolby said he would not be moving immediately to replace Lovell, saying: “It means our first team squad is down to 16 players but that gives opportunities to reserve team players like Chris Parkins.”
