Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay has described tonight's trip to bottom of the table Cinderford Town (7.45) as "our most important game of the season."
And the Moat boss has told his squad that they are playing for their Moat Ground futures between now and the end of the season.With the Moatmen fifth from bottom of the Dr Martens Western Division table, the Scot knows his side need a win tonight to help banish any lingering thoughts of relegation.
And McGinlay, disappointed Saturday's game at Tiverton was postponed, will be hoping his side can build on the 1-1 draw with Redditch a week ago.
Said the Moat boss: "This is our most important game of the season. Cinderford are in the bottom two with Paget and we need to get three points to keep them down there. And until we get a couple of wins under our belts the thought of relegation will always be a concern."
McGinlay has been urging his side to find the consistency needed to string a series of good results together, and he thinks a win tonight could see them go on a run.
"We will be looking to build on the Redditch performance and I was sick that Saturday's game was called off," said the Moat boss. "We have had good performances against the likes of Atherstone and Hinckley but we have not been able to build on those. But I believe if we get that elusive win we will go on a bit of a run."
However, McGinlay has told his players not to ease up as the season draws to a close, with the Moat boss trying to decide who should be offered contracts.
"A lot of teams are in a comfortable position in the table and have nothing to play for but that is not the case here," said McGinlay.
"Our boys have got to play until the end of the season as they are playing for their futures. We want to tie people up on contracts and the players have got to show that they are worthy of one."
McGinlay is still without injured duo Matt Warren (hamstring) and Ian Bluck (ankle) but Danny Verity has recovered from a thigh injury, while Ravi Sangha may feature on the bench.
Meanwhile, defender Barry Woolley looks likely to turn down an approach from former club Rocester.
Said McGinlay: "I have spoken to Barry and he is happy here and in the last two games he has done better. Barry is going to be a big player at this club."
