Rovers out to prove a point

Gresley Rovers aim to prove they are the best of the new boys when they entertain Evesham United tomorrow (3pm).
While Rovers earned promotion to the Beazer Homes League on the strength of winning the West Midlands League last season, Evesham were pipping Armitage to take the Midland Combination crown. That makes tomorrow’s Moat Ground clash an extension of the traditional rivalry between the two leagues with Gresley boss Steve Dolby saying: “They’ll want to prove they’re the best of the promoted sides, as we will.”
While Rovers have won four out of four so far, Evesham have failed to sustain the momentum given them by a 2-1 win at Tamworth and drawn with Newport – although they did trounce other newcomers Weston-super-Mare 3-0.
With Tony Marsden still suspended and Martin Devaney not yet recovered from a groin strain, Dolby chooses from a 13-man squad with defender Martin Dick left out.
