Rovers face re-run in cup
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers face a return to the scene of last season’s FA Vase disaster following Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Highgate United at the Moat Ground.
Rovers – whose scheduled league match against Sutton Coldfield Town at the Moat Ground today was postponed after Sutton was held to a goalless draw by West Bromwich Town in Saturday’s FA Cup Preliminary Round – travel to Newcastle Town on September 12th.Bass North West Counties Leaguers Newcastle – 3-2 winners over Gresley in the fourth round of last season’s Vase – earned their place in the First Qualifying Round with an impressive 3-1 win at Bilston.
But it took Gresley three goals in the last 15 minutes to dispose of Ansell’s Combination outfit Highgate who bounced back after a 16th minute Paul Acklam opener to lead 2-1 with 18 minutes left.
