Barrett stays home and Eagling refuses to fly
Gresley Rovers have announced that they have secured the services of their young and up and coming stars Jamie Barrett and Carl Eagling.
Jamie Barrett, who made his debut in the pre season friendly last season against Stockport County, was previously at Sheffield Wednesday.Barrett held his first team place throughout the season and was asked to play in various positions to accommodate suspensions and injuries.
Mark Evans commented that he was delighted that Jamie had decided to stay with the Club, “he is a great lad – his agility, strength and pace I think surprised a few last season”
Carl Eagling has also pledged his future to the Club. Carl joined the Club during the season signing from neighbours Shepshed Dynamo and whilst securing a regular spot within the Reserves, broke through to the First team towards the end of the season.
Gary Norton, Reserve Team Manager said that whilst Carl is happy within the Reserves he wants to build on his appearances for the First Team and maintain a regular spot. “He has got the right attitude and works hard.”
It is thought that both individuals have turned down offers from other Clubs to stay at the Moat Ground.
Jon Newsome greeted the news of both players staying with the Club. “Its fantastic news, we have a young and talented squad of players, their attitude is right, they have a brilliant spirit and enjoying playing their football”.
