The former Derby County defender has been snapped up by Rovers boss John McGinlay for his vast experience, and hopes he can steady the Moat Ground ship after a run of nine games without a win.

Forsyth, who has failed to make an impact at Eaton Park because of injuries and the form of Darren Wassall, Mark Blount, David Rennie and Jason Kavanagh, looks set to start against fifth placed Redditch United at the Moat Ground tonight (Tues 7.45pm).

McGinlay thinks he will be a tremendous asset both on and off the field and hopes he can help guide Rovers through their current sticky patch.

Said the Moat boss, who hopes to have Forsyth on board until the end of the season: "He is the experienced player that we could do with at the moment. He will come in and help people along, on and off the pitch, as the players are a bit low in confidence at the moment. He is a vastly experienced player and I can't believe he has been playing in Albion reserves, although Nigel Clough told me they are well blessed in that department."

McGinlay is well aware of Forsyth's injury problems but believes his skill and experience far outweigh those.

"His knees are not the best in the world and he probably can't play two matches in a week," said the Moat boss. "However, he is likely to play tonight as the statistics show we have been conceding goals. We need to tighten up and he can go in there and organise things at the back."

McGinlay, who threatened to "review his position" after Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Blakenall and said some of his players "were out there for the last time"; looks set to stick largely with the same squad.

One piece of good news is that striker Shaun Bedward looks like being fit after missing Saturday's game with an ankle injury.

Said McGinlay: "The majority of those who played on Saturday will get another chance. We have enough new players in the team as it is and the only way we will get out of this bad run is by hard work. All I can ask is for the players to go out and give me 100 per cent."
