Gaz Norton's Reserve team news
Gaz Norton

Gaz Norton

Last weekend we travelled to face Worcester City and ended up with a 1-1 draw after having the majority of the chances.
If our finishing had been more clinical we would have been deserved winners but in the end we wasted many good chances and had to rely on a Carl Slater penalty on 73 minutes to get us back on level terms after Worcester had taken the lead also from the spot late in the 1st half.

We have been looking at two trialists during the last few games. Centre half Matt Shakespeare was recommended by Mykey Pryce and has done well in games against Solihull and Worcester whilst ex Lincoln City trainee Dan Kerley has impressed in our last two games against Boldmere and Worcester.

We are in midweek action on Tuesday when we are again on the road, this time making the short trip to Barwell. This is followed by a home tie next weekend against Solihull Borough.

We are then in midweek action again when we travel to Oadby on Tues 22nd April before we finish our league programme on Saturday 26th April at home also to Oadby.

As games start to run out for the Reserves our goal is to get as many points on the board as possible to finish as high up the league as possible but on reflection our main aim is to provide potential resources to the 1st team. Due to various circumstances this season, the Reserve side have proved to be of value to the club in terms of the amount of players we have provided at various stages of the season. Some have figured more regularly than others but on no occasion has anyone let themselves down when they have made the transition to the 1st team.

UP THE ROVERS!
