Woolley, who became McGinlay's first signing when he was snapped up from Rocester, has had a sticky start to his second spell at the Moat Ground.

His mistake allowed league leaders Hinckley United to score what proved to be the winning goal in the fourth minute of the midweek clash earlier this month, while he was caught out on Monday when Atherstone scored a second half equaliser in the 1-1 draw which saw Rovers' six-game losing streak come to an end.

However, McGinlay has told people to get off Woolley's back.

Said the Moat boss: "I think some of the treatment Barry has received has been unfair. There is no point people victimising him and I certainly don't think he was to blame on Monday night. We have lost the ball in midfield and Barry was consequently caught coming out of defence."

The Moat boss admits Woolley has not had an easy time since moving back to the Moat Ground but says he is strong enough to bounce back.

"Barry felt under a bit of pressure when he came here, coming back to the club after playing very well when he was at Rocester," said McGinlay. "He has gone through a sticky spell, like all footballers do, but he will come through it. In fact as far as I am concerned he came through it on Monday when I thought he had an excellent game. He is a smashing lad, he is good in the dressing room and is very honest. He has just gone through a sticky spell. I have no problem with Barry Woolley.You don't become a bad player overnight. I signed him for this club because he is a good player and nothing has changed. He will be okay and he will come through is problems."

Woolley looks set to keep his place for tomorrow's Moat Ground clash with Blakenall, with the Moatmen looking to build on last week's 1-1 draw and secure a league double over the Walsall side.
