Gresley Rovers football club is to feature in a BBC Midlands television documentary on Thursday.
The half-hour programme, part of the Midlands Report series, follows the club’s progress through the current season.Former Mail reporter Max Mulgrew, one of a three-man production team involved in making the programme, said today: “The programme takes a look behind the scenes at the club and some of the personalities. We started work last summer at the very first training session after Gresley’s appearance in the FA Vase final and followed the club through the defeats in this season’s Vase and Derbyshire Senior Cup, the sacking of the manager and the build-up to the application for promotion to the Beazer Homes League.
“It’s a slight break from normal for Midlands Report, which normally looks at hard news issues. But we have enjoyed making the programme very much. We were made so welcome in Church Gresley, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and the people so enthusiastic. What’s more, the sun has shone every time we’ve been to Gresley!”
The programme was shown on BBC2 7th May 1992.
