Boss must pick up the pieces

"Gutted" Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay takes his team to Atherstone United tonight (Mon 7.30pm) desperate to avoid a seventh consecutive Dr Martens Western Division defeat.
McGinlay's hopes of seeing his side end their dismal run crashed at Shepshed on Saturday as his team subsided to a 2-0 defeat, leaving the Scot calling for more commitment."We didn't look as if we wanted to win. If you don't start off at the right tempo it's difficult to pick yourself up and that was the case today. We were happy to play at their level," he said. "We have five new players in the side but regardless of that we've still got enough to win these games. I'm gutted to be honest. The question is will some of those out there today play on Monday? There were players who were unlucky to be left out today who are champing at the bit. We've got to weed out those who don't want to play.
"We'll see what the reaction is. People have got to realise quite quickly that were dropping into the relegation battle and in that situation you've got to have players who will roll their sleeves up and fight."
McGinlay has midfielder Mark Peters available again after missing Saturday's game with flu.
However, defender Ian Bluck and striker Ravi Sanghar have failed to shake off knocks, while McGinlay himself remains sidelined with a calf strain.

Weekend Results
Rover's reserves were 2-0 winners against Bedworth United after goals from debutant Simon Trickett and Andy Cheetham who returned after a month out with knee problems.
Gresley Ladies hammered hosts Newbold Verdon 11-0 to reach the East Midlands Cup final.
