It will be business as usual for Gresley Rovers as they prepare for tomorrow’s crucial trip to Rushall – apart from the conspicuous absence of Frank Northwood.
New man-at-the-helm Steve Dolby is set to take charge for the first time following the frustration of Tuesday’s Moat Ground washout but said this week: “Very little will be different – for the time being.”

The 35-year-old coach, Gresley boss for at least the rest of the season following the well-documented sacking of Frank Northwood, reckons three points at Rushall will be enough to wrap up the title for Rovers.

Stourport Swifts will be the only team capable of overhauling Rovers if they win tomorrow but Dolby says: “Stourport have got a difficult run-in and they would need to win all their games with us losing all ours, so I’m convinced a win tomorrow will be enough for us.

“We haven’t had a league game for two weeks which is ridiculous at this stage of the season. I’m itching for action and I was looking forward to the West Brom game on Tuesday. It was frustrating when it was called off.”

Dolby plans to prepare for Rushall in much the same way as normal, saying: “I certainly don’t plan any sweeping changes – it’s too early for that yet. A lot of what happened while Frank was in charge will happen now. I was in charge of the build-up to games and most of what was said in the dressing room before a match was said by me – although Frank had his input obviously.

“We’ve got a squad of 16 players and I’d like to try one or two things with them before the end of the season with view to next year – but we’ll try and get the league title won first.”
