Moatmen searching for elusive victory

John McGinlay has urged his Gresley Rovers side to build on their last two performances and secure a much-needed victory at Shepshed Dynamo this afternoon (3pm).
McGinlay was delighted with Rovers' showing in their narrow defeats to Dr Martens Western Division league leaders Hinckley United on Tuesday and third placed Mangotsfield United last Saturday. Now he wants his side to put in the same performance and determination against a Shepshed side one place and three points above the Moatmen in the table.
Said the Moat boss: " We have set the standards in the last two games, especially against Hinckley. We pushed them to the final whistle and a draw would have been a fair result. That shows the improvement we have made because when we played Hinckley three weeks before and lost 3-0, in fact it could have been seven. Confidence is high at the moment and it will be even higher if we get a win tomorrow. The dressing room is buzzing but we need a win."
With McGinlay himself and Ian Bluck the only players out injured, the moat boss has a healthy squad to choose from, including new signing Danny Verity, and he knows he will need to call on all his players in what will be a hectic three weeks.
" We have to play nine games this month, two of which have now gone, and it will be very much a squad month - with everyone likely to get a game," said McGinlay.
The Moat boss also backed defender Barry Woolley, who was at fault for Hinckley's fourth minute goal, saying: "He is having a bad run of luck lately. I am 100 per cent behind him because he was a good player and he is still a good player."
