Gresley Rovers revealed today that they have had “preliminary talks” with Burton Albion to discuss an Eton Park ground-sharing scheme next season.
Promotion-seeking Rovers are working flat out to bring the Moat Ground up to the Beazer Homes League standard after twice failing to get the necessary grading.

But development officer Frank McArdle said: “We are pursuing all avenues to gain promotion. Other clubs have explored these avenues and we feel we need to do so too.

“I’m sure the supporters of the club will appreciate that the club must pursue every possibility before making a final decision as to its future and I am sure they will support the committee as they supported the team in their efforts to gain the higher standard of football that everyone at the club deserves.”

If the ground-share goes ahead Rovers would continue to train at the Moat Ground and the youth teams of both clubs and Albion reserves would play there.

Brewers’ chairman Jock Gordon said: “Gresley are our neighbours, they are a good club and we want to help them progress.”

The Beazer Homes League set a precedent last season when they agreed to Solihull Borough’s ground-share with Albion’s Premier Division rivals Moor Green.
