Ace goal-grabber Brian Beresford fired home the 150th goal of his Gresley Rovers career on Saturday to set up a Derbyshire Senior Cup semi-final derby at Edge Hill with Stapenhill, 3-0 winners over Borrowash Victoria.
Beresford, whose second half penalty against Glossop was his 28th goal of the season, said afterwards: “It was a funny game – a bit like the Rocester match – the ball just wouldn’t fall for us.

“But we got what we deserved in the end and it’s great to hear we’re playing Stapenhill in the semi.”

Manager Frank Northwood, meanwhile, whose side came under fire from Rocester manager Alan Beaman last week, roared: “We’re top of the league and in the last four of two cups which isn’t bad for a ‘dead’ side.”
