Gresley Rovers have signed midfielder David Donaldson - a former team-mate of boss John McGinlay.
The 22-year-old, who could make his debut against league leaders Hinckley United tonight Tues (7.45pm), played with McGinlay at Bradford City.

The deal for the Bradford Park Avenue player went through this morning and Donaldson has been named in the squad for tonight's clash.

McGinlay is delighted with the new signing - his fifth since being appointed Moat boss at the end of December.

Said McGinlay this morning: "I played with David at Bradford and he is a very good player. He is a good passer of the ball and we are very fortunate to have got him because there were a few clubs after him. He will be in the squad tonight."

And McGinlay's squad building is unlikely to end there, as he confirmed he was hoping to bring another player in before the weekend.

As for tonight's clash with the Knitters, Rovers will be without defender Ian Bluck, who was stretchered off in the 2-1 defeat at Mangotsfield on Saturday with a knee injury that is likely to keep him out of action for two or three weeks.

McGinlay himself is still out with a calf injury, while Jamie Roberts has been told to rest after losing a stone in weight through a bout of gastroenteritis.

On the plus side, McGinlay faces a dilemma as to who to play up front, with new signings Shaun Bedwald and Ravi Sangha battling with leading scorer Simon Tucker for two places.

Bedward, who scored on his debut on Saturday, looks certain to start, with McGinlay saying: " Shaun scored on Saturday and everyone was impressed with him. He looked very sharp and added another dimension to our play, He did what we thought he would do and it will be nice for our supporters to see him tonight.

We had to hold Ravi back a bit on Saturday as he is coming back from a knock, but he his very keen to get involved. We have not had that sort of competition to be honest, but it is a nice problem to have. As for Hinckley, they are at the standard we want to be at next season, but all the pressure will be on them as they are top of the league and will want to stay there."
