Gresley still top

Gresley Rovers ensured that they will be top of the West Midlands League for Christmas by bringing Willenhall Town’s long unbeaten run to an abrupt halt at the Moat Ground on Saturday.
Two goals from Brian Beresford after Carl Rathbone’s seventh-minute opener gave Gresley a comfortable victory to bolster a four-point lead at the top of the table. That gave manager Frank Northwood a suitably seasonal smile afterwards as he said: “We played quite well and stuck our chances away when they came, then defended very well against the wind second half.”
