Denby blow
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers’ hopes of again treading the road to Wembley in the FA Vase today received a hammer blow with an injury to inspirational skipper Richard Denby.
A hairline fracture to his ankle has ruled Denby out of action for tomorrow’s second round entry to the Vase fray against Blakenall at the Moat Ground (3pm).Denby will be out for three weeks and alongside dreams of repeating the Moatmen’s greatest moment in last year’s Vase final, the injury could not have come at a more heart-rending time.
Denby injured his ankle after turning sharply in the West Midlands League cup clash against Malvern Town at the Moat Ground.
The Gresley skipper has received treatment from a physiotherapist near his home and the injury has been worked on all week in a bid to have Denby in action.
