Gresley Rovers have sent out an SOS to Neil Lovell for tonight’s West Midlands League meeting with Oldbury at the Moat Ground (7.30pm).
The striker has been missing from the Moatmen’s line up for two weeks but manager Frank Northwood has promised him a place.Northwood said: “We need the lad. We’ve got a lot of injuries and he will definitely play tonight. Neil has got a big heart. He is a good talker and I am just hoping he can bounce back.”
Gresley will again be missing skipper Richard Denby who is still suffering from ankle ligament damage but hope to welcome back ‘flu victim Brian Beresford.
Northwood said: “It will be a late decision on whether he plays. Whether it has left him weak or not, I don’t know.”
Striker Paul Acklam has also declared himself fit to boost Rovers’ attempt to repair the damage caused by Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Paget Rangers.
Northwood said: “No-one goes out to play badly on purpose and on Saturday it was just one of those things.”
