Denby injury rocks Rovers

Gresley Rovers slumped to their biggest West Midlands League defeat of the season at Paget – and face mounting injury problems for tomorrow night’s visit of Oldbury United.
Skipper Richard Denby and striker Brian Beresford were both missing as Rovers crashed 3-0 to a Derek Christopher-inspired Paget – with Richard Wardle and top scorer Paul Acklam both having to be withdrawn with injuries during the game.Manager Frank Northwood admitted afterwards: “We missed Denby and Beresford. I envisage changing one or two things round on Tuesday. We’ve got the chance to put things right after today but whether I’ve got the players is another thing.”
Denby is certain to miss the Oldbury game with an ankle injury that could leave him sidelined for up to two weeks.
Meanwhile coach Steve Dolby labelled Saturday’s performance “disgusting.”
“I don’t think we’ve got any passion for the game. We’re all right when we get on top but we need more commitment. They said Paget’s second goal was lucky, which it was, but there were still 35 minutes to go at that stage.”
