Gresley Rovers are hoping to sample a piece of Wembley fever as they chase FA Cup glory at the Moat Ground tonight (7.45pm).
Rovers meet Raunds Town in a first qualifying round replay with coach Steve Dolby pleading to fans: “Get your scarves and flags out and come and give us a cheer.”He said: “We got used to playing in a great atmospheres on the way to Wembley in the Vase last season and as there are no other games on in the area tonight it would be nice to think we can pull in a big crowd.”
Dolby is confident Rovers can clinch a home tie with Beazer Premier Division leaders VS Rugby.
He said: “We didn’t play at all well at Raunds on Saturday, but still created enough chances to finish them off. If we play anything like as well as we can I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be able to look forward to a tasty game against VS Rugby.
“Certainly, I don’t think the team will be complacent. At one stage on Saturday it looked as though we were going out and I’ll be surprised if we make the same mistake.”
Rovers await a fitness check on striker Paul Acklam who has a groin strain, before naming their side.
Manager Frank Northwood adds Brian Beresford and Steve Adcock to the 13 on duty in Northamptonshire on Saturday.
