Striker Rav revs up for Rovers debut
Story courtesy of Glenn Brookes - Burton Mail
On the day he announced the signing of Wednesfield striker Ravi Sangha, Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay has blasted two players released by the club.
Sangha, signed last night, is set to make his debut at Dr Martens Western Division leaders Hinckley United tomorrow (Sat 3.00pm) as top scorer Simon Tucker is unavailable because of a family bereavement.

But McGinlay's delight at signing a striker with the pace he thinks his side is lacking was overshadowed by his anger at goalkeeper Phil McGing and striker Justin O'Reilly, who have been released along with former Derby County youth team player Amrit Sidhu.

Said the Moat boss: "O'Reilly I have not had sight or sound of since I came here. There has been no phone call from him and he has not been training, so that is it. I feel a bit sorry for Alan (Titterton) because he has let him down after he brought him back to the club."

McGing, told by McGinlay to "go away and sort his head out" after turning up late for a League Cup clash at Stamford last month, has also come under attack.

"McGing has let us down as well. I left umpteen messages on his phone but he has not returned them, even though we are struggling for a keeper," said McGinlay. "This is not a club where players can come and go as they please. It is different with Amrit. We had a good chat and he needs to be playing regular football which I cannot offer him at the moment."

However, McGinlay was delighted at making his second signing as Moat boss, following the capture of Rocester defender Barry Woolley last week.

"Ravi has been playing for Wednesfield in the Midland Alliance and has been on trial at Crewe, who will be keeping tabs on him," said the Moat boss. "He trained with us last night. He is quick and I feel that is what we need, we have not got that little bit of pace up front at the moment. And with Simon Tucker not available, Ravi will make his debut tomorrow."
