It was disappointing that the game at Shepshed on New Years day was postponed as I know that Jon and the lads we keen to make amends for the disappointment of the boxing day draw, especially after the fine 2-0 away victory at Sutton last week. Lets hope the lads can put in a similar “Sutton” type performance against Bedworth today and secure the points.

The Reserve Team (weather permitting) are away at Quorn today in the ICIS Midland Combination Reserve Division. We also travel to Rocester’s ground on Wednesday night to face Ashbourne United in the Semi Final of the Derbyshire Cup. The lads are well up for it and are hoping to ensure that we make it to the Final against either Ilkeston Town or Pinxton. I’m hopeful that some of the regular Reserve Team followers will make the short trip down the A50 to get behind us

Since I last wrote, two more of the Reserve Team squad have made their 1st appearances of the season in the 1st team. Matt Moran came on as a 2nd half substitute in the 3-3 Boxing Day draw against Shepshed whilst Carl Slater made his 1st team debut coming on as a late substitute at Sutton last Saturday. I hope that these two and also the other lads who have featured so far this season get further opportunities during the rest of the season.
