Dismal Rovers Beaten Again
This was another disappointing performance from Rovers albeit against a good side whi are at present topping the league. More defensive slips handed Bedworth a couple of goals which no team can allow and hope to get anything from a game.
Rovers started well enough with Jamie Sleigh racing onto the ball down the right but curling his shot wide of the far post.
However, it was the visitors who struck first from some poor defending. The ball not having been cleared went loose in the area and Kory Burke was on hand to take his chance smashing the ball home from close in.
Bedworth were now having the better of the possession and were probing and pressing looking to extend their advantage, but it was Rovers who went close to scoring when Finlay Barker made a fine run down the left before hitting a shot which visiting keeper Sam Lomax could only parry away for a corner.
Rovers were left wanting on 37 minutes when more indecisive defending led to goal number two for Bedworth. Another ball just outside the area, instead of being smashed out of the ground was knocked gingerly around and Elliott Parrott collected it and as the home defence parted took a couple of strides forward before hitting a grubber goalwards and whether keeper Lewis Fenney was unsighted, he didn’t move as the ball went past him and into the bottom corner.
Things could have got worse for Rovers as Bedworth almost added goal number three on the stroke of half time but this time this low shot crashed against the base of the far post.
If the Rovers faithful were thinking they would see their side turn things around as they did on Tuesday, they were to be bitterly disappointed as it was still the visitors who made the chances and were on top for the remainder of the game.
Rovers were forced into changes early in the half when Kane lee replaced the injured Danny Munday followed six minutes later with debutant Germaine Agustien and Bekir Halil replacing Rhys Mason and Barker respectively.
The play largely remained in the Rovers half but without any clear-cut chances. However, on 72 minutes Bedworth were handed another goal. Yet another defensive slip handed the ball to Leo Stone who raced down the left and into the area and virtually walking the ball into the net unchallenged.
Rovers were a beaten side and Bedworth went close on 87 minutes, but William Grocott curled his shot only just wide of the far post.
With the 90 minutes up the final twist in the tale for the home side came when James Tague received a straight red card for kicking out at his tackler despite being awarded a free kick by the referee.
