Dismal Rovers Beaten Again
By Kieran Leary
Gresley were well beaten in a bottom half clash after a very dominant display from the Knitters and managed to claim the three points.
Despite a positive start from Gresley it was Hinckley who took the lead in the 13th minute after a very well taken strike from Andre Williams who managed to slot the ball past Phillips.
Gresley then struggled to gain a foothold in the game as the hosts doubled their lead in the 26th minute through a deflected shot from Lewis Jones.
Another positive start to the second half from the Moatmen was very short lived as the hosts scored two goals very quickly after each other to put the game to bed just before the hour mark.
Gresley started the game very positively with a good amount of early pressure being put onto the home side earning themselves a few early corners but were unable to make anything of them.
Hinckley were able to pick up a bit of possession in the first 10 minutes but were not able to cause Gresley too many issues.
The hosts took the lead in the 13th minute through Andre Williams with a calmly taken finish into the bottom corner to slot it past the keeper after a sustained amount of possession.
The Knitters were very clever after taking the lead in keeping the ball and making Gresley work very hard to get it back.
Hinckley extended their lead in the 26th minute after Lewis Jones’ shot took a big deflection to put the ball into the empty net past the well beaten Leon Phillips in the Gresley goal.
Gresley’s first real chance came just after the half an hour mark when Spruce’s effort was blocked and forced out for a corner after nice move from Gresley.
Another good chance for Gresley to get back into the game came in the 42nd minute after a deliciously whipped ball from Gough into the area but nobody was able to connect with it.
A great counter attack to start the second half for Gresley after a great challenge and then an even better ball from Mason Frizelle who played in Spruce who was unfortunate not to finish the chance.
Hinckley grabbed their third of the game in the 52nd minute when Joseph Lyne struck a very nice first time volley into the bottom corner.
Minutes later Andre Williams got his second of the game and Hinckley’s fourth with a powerful finish into the centre of the goal past the keeper.
Levi Reid had a great chance on the hour mark but his long ranged effort was palmed away by the fully stretched keeper.
Gresley keep looking to find some sort of way back into the game as Lewis Archer back post effort goes into the side netting.
Gresley still looked positive on the ball in the last ten minutes but still struggled to create that clear cut chance
