Gresley Second Half Goals Get The Win
Gresley won this encounter against Lichfield City but they were made to work hard for their win with both goals coming in the second half.
With the expected changes to the home side Gresley and Lichfield worked hard but appeared to cancel each other out with clear chances at a premium in the first half.
The best of the scarce chances came to the visitors. Lichfield's 9 was put through but his touch was far too heavy pushing the ball forward so that the Gresley keeper could easily gather.
They had another half chance minutes later when the keeper had to block at his near post from the same player.
Lichfield started the second half brightly and once more they had a good chance to take the lead. This time it was their 11 put through but the Gresley keeper made a great save to deny him.
At the other end Gresley had a shot blocked by the legs of the visiting keeper. Substitute Harry Hughes then send into a fine cross from the right which was met by fellow substitute Matt Melbourne but his shot flew wide.
Melbourne had another shot go over the bar before giving his side the lead two minutes later. Josh Dutton had a good shot blocked but Melbourne reacted quickly smashing the ball into the net.
Gresley were getting on top and their second goal on 83 minutes sealed the game. A good move down the left ended with Dutton picking out substitute Toby Fura on the edge of the area who duly dispatched the ball into the net.
Lichfield had one past chance but the shot from their 7 was rising and flew narrowly over the bar.
