Comfortable Win For Gresley
Gresley ran out comfortable winners against Graham Street Prims at the Raygar Arena in a game divided into three thirty minute sections.
Brad Wells fed a superb ball through to Callum Riddell who raced forward only to be denied by the outstretched leg of the home keeper.
It took nearly half an hour before Gresley could breach the stubborn defending of the home side. A corner from the right by Rob Ritchie-Smith was met by Jamie Barrett who powered his header into the far corner of the net.
Gresley virtually changed their side for the second thirty minute period and they soon added a second goal. Rob Mulonga was sent down the left and his cross picked out Kieran O'Connell who's shot was blocked but Steadman was on hand to stab the ball into the net.
The visitors went close again soon after when following a good move down the right Hanson found Eric Graves who's first time shot went wide of the far post.
A third goal came from the penalty spot after Mulonga was brought down in the box. Hanson took the kick beating the keeper.
A rare attempt on the Gresley goal came with a low shot from outside the area but Alex Townsend got down quickly making the save to his left.
Steadman was unlucky to see his effort crash back off the bar but a couple of minutes later Gresley added to their tally. A corner from the left by Lucas Harrison was headed home by Tom Land.
Prims got their consolation with 10 minutes remaining when they were awarded a penalty which was successfully converted.
The fifth goal for Gresley was arguably the best of the night. Awarded a free kick just outside the area Brad Wells superbly curled the ball into the far top corner completely wrong footing the keeper.
Prims had two late chances to reduce the deficit but keeper Tom Turner made two good saves to deny them.
