Gresley Rovers vs Long Eaton United
Little Eaton hit for seven! - Dave Hackett - Burton Mail
With the big kick off just three days away Gresley Rovers wound up their pre-season build-up with a comfortable victory over Derby Senior League side Little Eaton
Rovers broke through when Kieron Smith scored with a far post header in the 23rd minute.
Two goals in as many minutes left the only mystery as what would be Gresley's eventual winning margin.
Smith rifled home his second goal then Brian Beresford quickly added number three when he lifted a free kick into the top right corner.
The visitors looked like keeping the scoreline respectable until Rovers hit them with a four goal burst in the final 18 minutes.
Dale Igoe and John Barry combined to set up Beresford for his second goal of the game which he coolly tucked underneath Mick Emery.
Andy Maddocks scrambled home goal number five before Mick Haynes' industry was rewarded in the 86th minute with a strike from 25 yards.
Haynes turned provider when his pass enabled Maddocks to complete the scoring with a delightful chip over the stranded Emery.
